Garth Robert Fraga, M.D., MSc

Professor / Director, Dermatopathology and Dermatology Research / Vice-Chair

Biography

I am a dermatopathologist with over 20 years independent practice experience. I began my career in community practice, but switched to academic practice in 2009 because I found it was better suited for my professional development. My current research is focused on diagnostic accuracy studies of tests in dermatopathology and dermatology and reproducible research.

I have a M.D. and MSc degrees (the MSc is in the science of clinical research). I am a current student in an M.S. program in applied statistics and data analytics. I have over 100 publications listed in PubMed. I serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. I was given the “Mighty Punch Award” by medical students at the University of Kansas Medical School for excellence in teaching. In my clinical work, I have diagnosed over 100,000 skin biopsies.
