Admissions Timeline

May 1: AMCAS Application Opens

The application process involves two separate applications:

• The AMCAS Application
• The UMKC General Application for Admission

July 1: AMCAS Submission Deadline*

The AMCAS application must be submitted by this date.

July 15: AMCAS Transcript Deadline*

All transcripts must be received official to AMCAS by July 15th. If transcripts are not received by AMCAS prior to July 15th, the application will not be processed.

August 1: AMCAS Verification and UMKC Application Deadline*

The AMCAS application must be verified by this date. AMCAS verification typically takes anywhere from two to six weeks after submission.

The General Application for Admission to UMKC must be submitted by August 1st (11:59 p.m. CST).

The last MCAT score accepted for initial application review will be from the July MCAT test date.

Letters of recommendation must also be submitted through the AMCAS Letter of Recommendation Service by this date.

August 8: Secondary Submission Deadline*

After the AMCAS application has been verified, applicants will receive and email with information on how to access the UMKC School of Medicine Portal. In the Portal, applicants will be able to:

• Review the technical standards
• Complete the final submission of the UMKC School of Medicine Portal

All of the above tasks must be completed by August 9th.

Early September: Offers to Interview are Extended

Applicants selected for an interview or placed on the interview waitlist will be notified electronically. Applicants not selected for an interview will also be notified electronically.

September 15, 16, and 17: Interviews Take Place

All applicants selected for interview must select and confirm a date for interview. All interviews will be virtual unless otherwise notified.

Early October: Offers of Admission are Extended

Candidates being offered admission will be notified electronically of their acceptance to the program. Students placed on the waitlist or denied to the program will also be notified at this time.

All admission decisions are communicated via email. Admission decisions are not communicated via phone.

All decisions of the Council on Selection are final.

January: Classes Begin

Students who have been offered admission and who have accepted the offer of admission will matriculate to the School of Medicine in January.

Please note: If any program deadlines fall over a weekend, the deadline will be moved to the following Monday.

*If any of these materials are submitted after the deadlines provided, the application will be considered late and reviewed with other late applications at the discretion of the admissions committee. The admissions committee does not guarantee the review of applications that become complete late. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Once admissions decisions have been made, no other applications for admission will be considered.
