Admission Requirements

Applicants applying for the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research may begin their studies in either the Fall or Spring semesters.

Requirement

Applicants for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research must have earned, or will soon earn, a baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited college or university.

It is preferred that applicants get a baccalaureate degree in a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) discipline, or holds a health-related professional degree.

Additionally, it is preferred that applicants earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

TOEFL or IELTS Score

  • International applicants must send their TOEFL or IELTS scores if their native language is not English.

    TOEFL: A minimum score of 79 on the internet-based exam is needed
  • IELTS: A minimum score of 6.0 is required

TOEFL scores should be submitted electronically by identifying UMKC as a score recipient. The UMKC

TOEFL code is also 6872.

Duolingo scores are not accepted.

Physicians currently in a residency/fellowship program are not required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score.

For applicants interested in working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, a minimum score of 24 on the speaking section of the TOEFL is required.
