Pathology Residency

Our residents participate in pathology and subspecialty research and application-based experiences at affiliated institutions around Kansas City. They also receive individually tailored training from attendings, all of which prepares them for fellowship opportunities and employment in top programs across the country.

Pathology course

Explore disease processes from the molecular to the organ-system level, bridging basic science with clinical practice. Through in-person instruction, digital lab discussions, case studies and team-based learning, students gain a strong foundation in anatomic and clinical pathology, preparing them for real-world medical applications.

Pathology elective

This four-week elective exposes fourth-year medical students to the fields of anatomic and clinical pathology, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology and laboratory medicine. Learn more about elective goals, curriculum, student outcomes and expectations.

Pathology Interest Group

The Pathology Interest Group (PIG) at UMKC cultivates an appreciation for pathology and supports students exploring it as a career. Through hands-on learning, mentorship from practicing pathologists, and events like histology reviews and post-match panels, PIG provides insight into anatomic and clinical pathology while fostering research and community involvement.
