Research

The scholarly work of our pathology residents includes one month of a research rotation during which time they work with one of the MD/Ph.D. research associates leading into a first-author national presentation or a publication. Both are ultimately required for graduation. First-author presentation offers a stipend to cover the travel and incidental expenses. Currently, all residents are involved in ongoing research with the director of research at the UMKC School of Medicine. Further, they periodically produce case reports and utilization reviews within the department as opportunities to create publications. The residents also collaborate with other departments in research.
