I grew up in Omaha, NE and am a huge Husker fan. For undergrad, I went to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA where I studied chemistry and was a member of the varsity baseball team for four years. I returned to Omaha for medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During medical school, I met my fiancé (wife coming in May 2022), Morgan, who was pursuing her Master’s at Creighton. She is from Topeka, KS, so she and her family were just as ecstatic as I was when we found out we would be moving to Kansas City for residency.
My interest in medicine stemmed from attending medical visits with my mom during her breast cancer treatment while I was in high school. Seeing medicine from the patient’s perspective provided me both a strong interest in and valuable understanding of the power of medicine. Anesthesia is the perfect fit for me as it combines my interest in chemistry and physiology with a team-based environment full of people who have different roles but share a common goal of providing excellent patient care.

My hobbies outside of the hospital include cheering on the Huskers, golf, trying to prove to myself I’m not washed up through sports like slow-pitch softball, and cooking new and exciting food with my fiancé. We recently joined team Peloton ahead of our wedding, so if you see me walking around the hospital with a limp, I’m probably just sore from that.

I grew up in Prince Edward Island, a small province on the east coast of Canada (you’ve probably had their mussels and oysters before). I completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry in a neighboring province, and then started medical school at Saba the following fall.
Going to a Caribbean medical school allowed me to do rotations all through the US and explore places I wouldn’t have normally visited. I did an elective rotation Saint Luke’s Hospital and loved my time both at the hospital and in the city. Kansas City is bigger than any place I have ever lived, but it also has a lot of the small-town comforts I grew up with. As a foodie, I love exploring all the different breweries and restaurants here!

Once I knew I wanted to go into anesthesia, I knew UMKC was where I wanted to train. I was lucky enough to meet some of the current residents and faculty during an elective rotation, and everyone was so welcoming and supportive. There is a wide variety in patient populations between training hospitals, and the faculty are eager to teach. I’m very excited to be training through UMKC and am looking forward to seeing more of Kansas City!

I am a Florida native, raised in the West Palm Beach area and went to college at Tulane University in New Orleans. I went to medical school at Midwestern University in Phoenix, AZ and did my clinical rotations in Los Angeles, California. While I have enjoyed getting to live throughout the US, I am thrilled to call KCMO home. I chose Anesthesiology because I knew I wanted to be the person who could manage life or death situations. Being an anesthesiologist gives you a wide skillset from running codes in the ICU to navigating the physiology and pharmacology of complex cardiac transplants. Getting to work with the sickest patients is truly an honor and UMKC has strong exposure to a variety of cases. My career interests include critical care, cardiac, and chronic pain. UMKC Anesthesiology has strong exposure to all the subspecialties, with strong focus on cardiac and critical care medicine. My personal interests are Skiing, tennis, traveling, weightlifting and live music. Exploring the local restaurants and breweries with our fantastic resident cohort.
