Welcome to Our Program

The primary goal of the UMKC Dermatology Residency program is to provide excellent clinical training. Our residents receive a comprehensive educational experience in clinical dermatology, dermatopathology and dermatologic surgery. We also ensure protected time for our residents to read and participate in scholarly activities and didactics.

Overview and curriculum

Dermatology training at University Health provides a unique experience. It is one of the few dermatology residency programs in the U.S. that operates in a safety-net hospital. Our patients are racially diverse, medically complex and in need of help. The variety and complexity of conditions that our residents see and manage are immensely broad. We see all patients, regardless of income, insurance and legal status.
