Director's Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). This is a two-year program designed to provide comprehensive clinical training in endocrinology. Graduates of the program are expected to excel as well-rounded physicians who are prepared to provide compassionate, clinical care of patients with a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions. The program offers training and experience in both quality improvement and clinical research.

The fellowship is primarily located at three training sites — University Health Truman Medical Center, the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center (KCVAMC), and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

University Health is a safety-net hospital co-located on the UMKC Hospital Hill Health Sciences Campus and provides an urban, academic medical center setting. University Health also has a clinical location in Lee’s Summit, Mo. with a growing endocrine practice where fellows experience a suburban practice. KCVAMC is a large, tertiary referral center for veterans in Kansas and Missouri located about three miles from University Health Center. Saint Luke’s Hospital is a private, tertiary care teaching hospital with a large cardiovascular clinical and research program, also located only a few miles from University Health Center.

Together with training experiences at other affiliated hospitals, there is experience with patients across a diverse spectrum of age, racial and ethnic background, socioeconomic status, gender and clinical conditions in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
