Faculty Council

Role and Responsibilities

The UMKC School of Medicine Faculty Council has the following responsibilities:

  • Advise the School of Medicine dean via the Coordinating Committee of the School of Medicine on matters pertaining to faculty activities.
  • Facilitate and enhance communication between all faculty members of the School of Medicine.
  • Advise the School of Medicine dean on matters involving faculty development.
  • Advise the School of Medicine dean concerning administrative functions of the university, insofar as it relates to faculty activities.
  • Elect appropriate School of Medicine faculty representation to the UMKC Faculty Senate.

Membership

Faculty Council membership shall elect a chair and co-chair who are responsible for:

  • Constructing the agenda for each Faculty Council meeting
  • Taking the minutes for each Faculty Council meeting
  • Reporting these minutes at the monthly School of Medicine Coordinating Committee meeting
  • Representing the UMKC School of Medicine on the UMKC Faculty Senate. Representatives of the UMKC School of Medicine on the UMKC Faculty Senate are expected to be active members on the Faculty Senate. Appropriate notes for each Faculty Senate meeting are reported to School of Medicine administration as well as to the Faculty Council

Meeting Schedule

The Faculty Council will meet once per month (if there is business to discuss). Meetings will take place via web conferencing software, conference call or in person.
