Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the UMKC department of Dermatology at University Health! As department chair, I am honored to lead a team of outstanding clinicians, educators and researchers who advance the field of dermatology through their commitment, compassion and creativity. Our complete academic Dermatology department features expertise in complex medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, skin of color dermatology, dermatopathology, clinical pharmacology and Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetics/lasers.
We are one of the few complete academic dermatology departments in the nation that operates at an essential safety net hospital. Our department was founded on the belief that everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin regardless of socioeconomic status, race, insurance status, or legal status. We plan to start the UMKC dermatology residency program in July 2026 so we can train the next generation to carry on our mission: Academic dermatology care for ALL, regardless of ability to pay.
