Alumni Letter
Dear UMKC Emergency Medicine Alumni,
Since 1973, the UMKC Emergency Medicine residency program has continued to educate and train emergency medicine physicians to provide comprehensive medical care and has fostered physician leaders in academic and community programs across this country. From this solid foundation, our current program faculty and residents continually strive to meet the high standard that has been set by our predecessors; ex traditione, exellentia.
One of our goals as a residency program is to foster alumni connections and expand our alumni network to promote the strength and continued growth of our program. It’s always enjoyable to reconnect at national/state meetings or in Kansas City.
Thank you to all of you who have reached out to offer our graduates job opportunities — keep those emails coming!
We would also like to thank the many alumni that have contributed to our didactics through guest lectures: 2024 Mock Oral Board Examiners Drs. Sullivan, Brown, Bailey, Petry, Nelson, Brandt, Honeyman and Millard; and guest speaker Dr. Alex Garza.
We would also like to thank our alumni for their continued financial donations to the residency program. The funds recieved through our Residency Education Development Fund are essential and used to help cover the cost of our annual emergency procedure labs and simulation labs for our residents, as well as numerous resident wellness initiatives.
Please continue to email us alumni updates, and if you have not already, please take the time to engage with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter (@umkcEM). As of now, we are most active on Instagram.
Thanks for reading and continued best wishes,
Emily Hillman M.D., MHPEProgram Director
