Application Information
Application deadline
Applications must be received by Oct.15 so that their composite score will reflect their application and provide the best chance to obtain an interview.
Invitations to Interview
Interview invitations will be sent by ERAS email and reservations given for specific interview days on a first-come/first-serve basis. Please make sure you can attend on the day you request. UMKC Orthopaedic Residency participates in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Universal Offer Day and Universal Interview Acceptance Period.
Interviews
The interview provides prospective residents with an opportunity to see the program, talk with residents and decide if this program is a good personal match. Each interviewee will be provided complete information about the program, teaching and faculty/resident interactions. We believe that this process allows the applicant to “self-select” and therefore results in matching candidates who work very well as a group. All interviews will be held in person.
On the interview day there will be a short introduction by the Residency Program Director, Dr. Amelia Sorensen, followed by 10-minute interviews with several faculty members and senior residents. All candidates will have interviews with the same faculty members, regardless of the particular day they select to interview.
Interviews will occur in a split group format. While half of the applicants interview, the other half will attend a virtual tour of our facilities as well as a group discussion with current residents.
Further information about interviews will be sent to those selected to interview.
Accomodations
All costs related to the interview will be the responsibility of the applicant. Updates for residents and alumni are coming soon.
