Faculty Excellence in Simulation Education Award
Purpose
This award acknowledges and celebrates a faculty member who is recognized for excellence in simulation-based educational activities at the UMKC School of Medicine.
Description
The faculty recipient should be an individual who has made significant contributions to simulation-based education and/or research. Recipients are expected to have directly engaged in simulation activities with learners (medical students, graduate students or graduate medical education residents/fellows) by cultivating knowledge and clinical skill acquisition at the UMKC School of Medicine. Examples of qualifying activities include but are not limited to serving as a content expert for simulation case development, volunteering as teaching faculty for a course or skills lab, or collaborating with the standardized patient program training sessions to improve the quality of services offered to School of Medicine learners.
Eligibility
The nominee must be a tenure track or non-tenure track faculty member at the UMKC School of Medicine for a minimum of three years.
Faculty members who are specifically compensated or contracted for work in simulation-based educational activities at a school or affiliate level, such as leading a simulation center/program for the medical school or a hospital affiliate, are excluded from consideration for this award. However, they can be recognized for their simulation efforts prior to being appointed in their School of Medicine or affiliate role.
