Rules and Guidelines

Session Limits

In order to accommodate opportunities for the entire class, students are only allowed to sign up for one session each. Any student who tries to sign up for multiple sessions will be removed from  the schedule.

Avoid No-Shows, Late-Shows and Last Minute Rescheduling

If a student signs up for a session and no-shows, is late, or attempts a last minute rescheduling it will be seen as an act of unprofessionalism. In the event a student is found to show unprofessionalism in this way, it will be required that the student meet with the CPAR director and may result in reporting a violation of the UMKC School of Medicine Code of Conduct and possible referral to the Honors Council for review.

Excused Absences

In the setting of an emergency or excused absence (see the above criteria under CPA Switching Policy in the CPM Syllabus), the CPM directors, CPAR director, and course coordinator must be notified as soon as possible, and appropriate documentation will be required.

LearningSpace

You can access LearningSpace with your UMKC SSO credentials at umh.edu. LearningSpace recommends using Google Chrome browser. Review our Student Guide to LearningSpace for instructions on logging into and using the platform.

Student Interest Groups

Student interest groups can submit requests to reserve space. Events must be requested following recommended timelines, with as much advanced notice as possible. All student interest group events must receive the approval of a faculty advisor and require a physician to be present to supervise (resident and/or attending). Please review our policy library for applicable policies.

Student Simulation Internship

Discover a hands-on opportunity to deepen your expertise in simulation-based medical education through our student simulation internship, which includes a structured, mentored experience where you'll build skills in designing, implementing and evaluating simulation activities; work with advanced technologies and standardized patients; and complete a meaningful capstone project — gaining valuable research, leadership, and clinical education experience that can set you apart in residency or career pathways.
