Emergency Medicine Responder
Program Description
The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program is a 48-hour course designed to introduce participants to basic life support and emergency medical care for the first minutes of an emergency until EMS help arrives. This program is based on the 2009 EMS Education Standards for Emergency Medical Responders. Typical participants in the EMR program include police officers, firefighters, security and industrial emergency response personnel.
Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of the program, which permit students to participate in the written examination and become certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an Emergency Medical Responder.
Note: While Missouri law in certain circumstances recognizes emergency medical responders, the state of Missouri does not currently license emergency medical responders.

Program participants must:
- Be 18 years of age
