The residency program provides a robust ultrasound experience for every resident. Our 3 US-fellowship trained faculty lead this top-rated rotation- each July they devote a day to incoming PGY-2 residents and provide an EM resident orientation to US. You will then have a dedicated four-week ultrasound rotation during your intern year immersing you in the basics of emergency ultrasound as well as a continued longitudinal exposure throughout your first year. The rotation is led by our expert, ultrasound fellowship trained faculty. During PGY-1 year our EM residents can meet ACGME requirements for graduation due to US volume. More importantly, you will continue to utilize and practice ultrasound throughout the course of your residency. Upon completion of your residency you will feel comfortable with and know how to incorporate point of care ultrasound in your daily clinical practice.

The department has two cart-based point-of-care ultrasound machines, allowing residents and faculty to regularly perform exams. Throughout your residency, you will become proficient at all 11 of the ACEP recommended imaging modalities. With the benefit of having three fellowship-trained faculty, you will also have significant experience with advanced ultrasound applications as well.

All emergency medicine faculty are credentialed to perform point-of-care ultrasound by the institution, which enables our ED physicians to make critical clinical decisions based on their own exams and deliver state-of-the-art care to our patients.
