About
Director's Welcome
We are often asked what we are looking for in applicants. We recruit exceptional future physicians with a passion for teamwork, leadership and community service. We seek applicants with evidence of past success in their medical education, regardless (and sometimes especially) if the journey to that success involved an unexpected route or overcoming challenges. We look for individuals who will complement our team.
We ask you to take the time to meet our current residents. You will find them to be brilliant, determined, connected and kind. Our residents are leaders, team players and all-around great people. We want our future residents to be people who will foster this dynamic, encourage our team, enlighten us with perspective and enhance others while they become the best MedPeds physician they can be.
We evaluate the overall fit of applicants within our program based on personal characteristics of tenacity, dedication, adaptability and interpersonal skills, taking into consideration the benefits of diversity of cultural, educational and experiential backgrounds.
Residency programs across the nation have found unexpected benefits of a virtual interview season. We have been thrilled at the equalization of opportunity for all applicants to our residency program. While we miss the opportunity to see your smiling faces and to proudly show off our hospitals and university, we will offer you the most insightful view of program, hospitals and our welcoming city in a way that demonstrates our dedication to diversity, equality and fairness.
This year, we will continue to highlight the aspects of our program that applicants need to know about — our clinical training environment, our educational and research support, our extraordinary categorical programs and our fantastic residency program culture.
Adaptability is a strength of the MedPeds trained physician and we continue to shine. We are optimistic, flexible in our approach and determined to share our program with you.
We can’t wait to meet you and share a bit of our residency family with you. We have no doubt that you will love what you see.
