Unique Opportunities

Quality Improvement/Patient Safety

Med-Peds residents participate in a formal QIPS curriculum. This curriculum is intertwined throughout our “+1” weeks, Med-Peds didactics and categorical didactics. Each resident designs and implements a QIPS project with faculty mentorship, culminating in a poster or oral presentation at the School of Medicine's Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Day. These projects also have the potential to be presented at regional/national meetings.

Advocacy Track

Our residents have the opportunity to participate in additional advocacy education and training through the Advocacy Track sponsored by our categorical pediatrics program. This track has two opportunities: the Legislative Advocacy Track and the MOCARE Advocacy Leadership track.

Global Health Track

Our residents have the opportunity to participate in the Advocacy Track through our categorical pediatrics program. Residents who participate are eligible to participate in an international elective with partner sites in Mexico, Panama, Guatemala and the Philippines. Each global health experience is unique and can be tailored to a subject or location of the residents’ interest.
